Hi, this is interesting to me as I live a bus ride away from Poor Bella was shoved in the wych elm. Word round here is she was murdered by an American soldier when she revealed she was pregnant, and then stuffed in a tree. Later on it was blamed on witches, just because of the name of the tree. What I really wanted to set right though is that little boys after WW2 didn't gather birds eggs to eat- at the time it was a craze for little bastards to 'collect' birds eggs as a hobby. After the war, and during, hen's eggs were aplenty, I don't know if you know this but every time a bomb went off, every hen laid 6 eggs. I really enjoy your series, I like to cover up the top part of Shane's head and just watch his lips moving.

2 things, 1) hair is sometimes on a skull because the skin around the skull is very tough, so it tends to decay slowly. it looks like the hair is in the skull, it's not, the skin just decays slowly and is harder to see. 2) This is just like the folktale from Nant Gwrtheyrn, Wales of Rhys a Meinir. There used to be a tradition in some areas of the bride hiding and the groom seeking her before their wedding. So Meinir went to hide, and Rhys went to find her but couldn't. He kept of looking for years after, eventually going mad. Years later, there was a storm. Rhys went on a walk the say after the storm had passed and found a tree that had been split open by lightning. Inside was the skeleton of Meinir, the woman he was going to marry.

From someone who has a biology degree: 1. The hair grows from follicles in the skin. If hair is visible on a skull it is because there are still small patches of skin still attached to it that have not fully decomposed. 2. No, the skeleton does not stay together once fully decomposed. Perhaps, at a particular stage when the tendons and ligaments have not yet decomposed, it can stay together. But not upon full decomposition.

I would assume that hair is possibly dried to the skull after death depending on the environment. Not sure if that happens in real life though or just movies though.

Its weird to hear English place names pronounced the way they're written. Birmingham is pronounced like 'Bir-ming-um'. If your ever confused by someone' accent you can often tell who's English and who isn't by how they pronounce English place names.
